Bailey ate an entire piece of rawhide on Friday night. She took it from Sadie and woofed it down before I could get from her. It has been 4 days and all her systems seem to be working fine, but we haven’t seen anything exit her yet either. I hope this doesn’t cause any issues, I really don’t want to go back the vet after all of our visits the other week.
Today we went down to Great Grandmas house. Everyone kept very busy. As of 8 PM they are soooo tired, I can’t even get them to walk themselves to bed. I have to carry them into bed, kinda sad isn’t it. Sadie was so good today, we are going to let her sleep in our bed tonight as a treat. I hope this doesn’t come around to bite us.
That is about everything for today.. Take a look at this photo, it is the evening we brought Sadie home from Surgery.
Saturday has been a much slower day for me, than the previous days of the week. Becky took Sadie to work with her this morning. Bailey and I got to hang out for most the morning which was needed. I feel like I have been neglecting her this week because Sadie has required so much attention. Bailey and I took a ride to the post office, to get some gas, and to get her a treat at the feed barn. She got a JUMBO greenie.
Didn’t get much sleep last night, Bailey and Sadie thought sleeping right next to me was the best thing. Unfortunately it meant I didn’t get a lot of sleep, although the both of them sleep the night away.
It is going to windy and rainy night, it should prove to be another long night again.
It has been awhile AGAIN!!! I don’t know were time goes.
What is new from the last update, which was over a month ago! Well the bond between Bailey and Sadie has grown a lot. When we leave the house, Sadie goes into her cage when we get home Bailey is sleeping right next to her cage.
On Monday Sadie went in for some surgery. She got Spayed and her dew-claws removed. Poor little thing looked so traumatized when I picked her up. She has 4-5 internal stitches on her belly, 6-8 stitches on each rear paw, and a morphine patch on her side to make things more comfortable.
Today is Thursday and we went back to the vet to get the morphine patch taken off, and the stitches on her paws looked at to make sure everything is on target. The Dr gave her a good bill of health and we go back on the 31st to get the stitches taken out.
She is been very bothered by the stitches on her paws today. I think because the Dr. said leave the bandages off, is making the area very itchy.
I thought things were going to get easier the longer we got into this, but today proved not to agree with my theory. She is constantly grabbing her leg and chewing on it. So after 6 hours of dealing with that, I put the bandages back on for a little less aggravation.
Both are sleeping next to me right, so I thought this would be a great day to send an update in.
Thanks for reading!
I got home Tuesday around midnight and everyone (including Becky ) was happy to see me! It is now a week with ME!!!
Sadie loves chewing on things, which is good and bad. The bad chews on things she isn’t supposed to, the good a little rawhide bone keeps her busy for ever!
Both dogs are somewhat possessive of their food, which is too be expected. I would like to find a way to break them of that. I am not sure there is a quick solution to that.
After Sadie eats her Breakfast and does her business outside in the morning, I let her rest with me in bed. She knows this is coming, because she sling shots up the stairs and then up the little stairs next to the bed. And within in seconds curls up and looks at you and saying “lets nap!”
Bailey looks at this as, OH GOD! The bed is my one area of peace. Sorry, Bailey.....
What is new..... Well there isn’t much to report. Becky took a road trip with the girls to her Grandmothers this weekend. They all behaved and had no accidents in the house. Bailey climbed in the cage with Sadie to sleep, we have a picture of it. It didn’t last long, Bailey likes to spread out.
Sadie found one of Baileys bones today, and she loves it. Bailey has never been a chewer, and anytime like that she doesn’t even touch it. Well Sadie is the opposite of that, she found it and didn’t stop chewing it until Becky took it out of her mouth after 2 hours. This is good and bad. Good, we know what will keep her busy, Bad - she is going to love shoes, furniture, etc...
Hopefully I will be home in a couple days and I will get to give Becky and my mother some time off.
Bailey had her big visit yesterday with the Doctor, for some heart irregularities. They did XRAY’s, EKG, and some other stuff. The dr. said she everything is normal, and the extra heart beat is not abnormal. Most dogs grow out of it. This is absolutely great news.....
Sadie is her normal self. She is still very inconstant with peeing outside, but we are working on that.
I am on the road now ,so Becky is all alone with the two animals. My mothers watches them durning the day. It is a lot of work watching the two, they are fast movers....
That is it for today.....
Well it is a new week, and I have changed the update format. I am getting too confused with the days, they are starting to blend together. So now it is going to via update numbers, and I am going to try to update 2x a week (hopefully).
What is new the two four legged creatures, a lot!
They are becoming even better friends, they play HARD for a couple hours a day, everyday. You would think it is driven by Sadie, but Bailey gets in there and provokes her when she starts to slow down. It you look at the video I posted a couple weeks back, that is what they are like everyday for about 2 hours. Needless to say they sleep very well at night.
Lets talk accidents in the house. Bailey is perfect, Sadie not so perfect. We are slowing getting her into a routine and figuring out the signs. It will be a long road. Maybe in 6 months we will have a better handle on it.
They have been to the vet a couple times getting their shots and check ups. Sadie is a healthy puppy that will be getting “fixed” in about 2 months. Everyone at the vet loves both of them.
Unfortunately Bailey has to go to a specialist tomorrow for a issue with her heart. We don’t know what is going to happen, but she is going in for a EKG, X-Rays, and some other tests tomorrow in NY. We are praying that it is nothing big or at least correctable via medication. This house wouldn’t be home without Bailey....
The road trip went well with both dogs to Becky’s Grandmothers. She set up a cage for Sadie and Bailey climbed in thinking it was for her, funny...
Sadie had a major break through last night, she let Becky know she had to go! It was about 10pm and she started crying and scratching at the cage, Becky took her outside and she went. WOW!!! Of course this is NOT the normal, but lets hope it continues.
Bailey is getting more and more attached to Sadie each day, it is great to see. They follow each other around, and if either one makes any noises the other one comes running to see what is going.
Sadie is not barking yet, lets hope it stays this way. I am sure her big sister is going to teach her, unfortunately...
They are both at Grandma’s in Southbury today, they will be tired tonight.....
I have been slacking off and not updating everyone on the blog, I am sorry. Well, since the last update things have been getting better and better. Sadie has been staying at Grandma’s with anymore run-in’s with Sandy. Bailey is watching over her like a hawk, it is incredible to see how they bonded. Grandma is getting very accustom to walking Bailey and Sadie a lot! Sadie, just like Bailey did, is getting very attached to Grandma and follow her around every were.
As for her accidents in the house? Well, she has her good days and her bad days. She is still a puppy and it will be many many months before we can trust her with telling us when she has to go.
Bailey is feeling better and is playing a lot with Sadie. Bailey is on a small diet to shave off few pounds. I know it is the end of bikini season, but we have to get her ready for next year.
Becky is up at her Grandmothers tonight, so this will be Sadie’s first night staying away from home in a couple weeks. I sure hope everything goes well.
I hope the next update comes sooner than this one did, but please email me and nag me if I don’t post it quick enough!
Well it is actually Day 10 while I write this, but it will be a review of Day 9.
Everything went well for the most part today. Sadie hung out at Grandmas all afternoon and other than a run in with Sandy, everything went well. It turns out her big sister, Bailey, protected her from Sandy (the cat was harmless), which elevated the situation.
Becky called me and said Sadie was shaking is evening and not eating. I got nervous, so I drove home from White Plains, NY. When I got home she warmed right up, stop shaking and ate some dinner. I think it was a combination of me leaving and all the new experiences at Grandmas. It was a long day, but finally back in the hotel now (12:30 AM), but it was worth it.
Overall it wasn’t a bad day at all.
And there were NO accidents inside.
Going to sleep now...... Good night.....
